Take database courses at DB2University.com

DB2 University is a new independent site aimed at providing database courses for the online community. The initial courses are all free:
  • SQL Fundamentals I
  • DB2 Essential Training I
  • DB2 Essential Training II
  • Data Studio Essential Training I
Top students in the instructor-led run of the SQL Fundamentals I and DB2 Essential Training II courses will be rewarded with books and vouchers for IBM certification exams. Some of the courses are also available in Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.

Free book: Database Fundamentals

Database Fundamentals is a free textbook used in the SQL Fundamentals I course on DB2University.com.

As the latest book in the DB2 On Campus book series, it is available for free download as a pdf. It covers similar topics to what would be covered in a university-level databases course.

The book sets out to help readers:
  • Learn relational database theory
  • Understand different information models
  • Learn logical and physical database design
  • Get the basics of the SQL language and XML
  • Practice using hands-on exercises
